Beautiful home with amazing views!

Our family of 5 enjoyed a two week stay at the Maine Deck. We were thrilled with the sweeping Gulf views from the kitchen and dining area! The flooding sunlight and views of the sparkling water made meal prep a family affair and an obvious gathering spot. The bedrooms were perfectly adequate. We enjoyed the swimming pool everyday. The house’s proximity to the beach made it so easy to enjoy beaching it with the kids (forget something? jump on the cart and go get it).

North Captiva island is a special place to slow down and enjoy the beautiful landscape and your family- and this is the perfect house to do it!! Forgot to mention the spectacular sunset views!!!! Also, the Tortuga Property Managers made our stay so easy and enjoyable with offering grocery service and anything else you could possibly need!!

Fabulous Beach House!

Wow....this house is beautiful, comfortable, clean as a whistle and with great amenities! Our family of five had a super chill, relaxing time here. It's funny.....even though we were a very short walk to the best beach on the island, we still used the pool everyday as well (some family members are beach lovers; some are pool lovers). The weather was fine but it made all the difference that the pool was heated so we didn't have any chill from the springtime breezes on the island. Also, while many of the homes here also have pools, the Maine Deck has its pool on the southwestern exposure; thereby putting it in the warm sunlight all afternoon......perfect.

We cooked all but one meal and it was super easy with the roomy, well equipped kitchen. I would head down most evenings with a beer and a platter of items to grill on the large gas grill next to the pool. We would eat and finish up just as the sun was setting. We had a perfect view of the sunset from the mid-level deck just off the kitchen - no need to walk to the beach for the sunset. Evenings included ping-pong (with a new, high-end table; no cheap pressboard table here!); movies on the big-screen tv on the bedroom level; and board games from the Maine Deck game closet.

Our hosts, the Dieterle's clearly care about their home - it is very well-maintained and April left us a nice, hand-written welcome note in the kitchen along with an assortment of custom, Maine Deck souvenir items reflecting their love of Maine (and crabs!). On top of that, Duncan and his company (Tortuga Properties) were fantastic managers. He brings an executive level management effort to a place that you might otherwise find less capable folks. Really great to have a smart, responsive yet nice person running the show.

In summary, we are regular VRBO users and have had many great experiences......this one is top-tier for sure! The combination of North Captiva island; a beautiful home; and a wonderful service team were incredible.

Lovely house in an amazing location

The Maine Deck has been very thoughtfully designed, decorated, and equipped. It’s open, scrupulously clean, and couldn’t be more comfortable and relaxing. Combine that with a location that’s super close to both a beautiful beach and the extensive state park / nature reserve, and exemplary help throughout the stay from the Tortuga Properties team, and you have all the ingredients for a lovely, relaxing holiday. We spent a week in winter break with our three kids (11,10 and 9) and we, and they, would recommend the house and the island very highly. Have fun!

Luxurious taste of New England in Paradise

This was our first trip to North Captiva Island, what a fantastic hidden gem! No traffic, no cars, just peace and quiet. The Maine Deck is a short walk to a beautiful Gulf of Mexico beach with stunning white sand and beautiful warm water. This home has had many recent upgrades and improvements, all done with exceptional decor. The views from the new, off-kitchen deck are breathtaking. Don't miss the wings at Mango's, just a short walk or golf-cart ride up the "street." The adjustment to no-pavement, no cars and no street-lights is immediate. We are already planning our next trip to paradise...we just hope the Maine Deck will be available!
